Synchronicities often feel like the universe’s way of gently nudging us, reminding us of the unseen threads connecting our lives and the unexpected blessings we receive. Over a year ago, I wrote about synchronicities in an article on December 12, 2023.
At the end of that piece, I included a deeply personal update about an extraordinary experience that day:
“An hour after publishing this article, I was still thinking about synchronicities and it dawned on me that since I don’t leave the house as often as I should, I probably don’t have as many opportunities to experience them as I might if I did. I picked up a book that was on the top of the stack on one of my end tables, which coincidentally was ‘The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire: Harnessing the Infinite Power of Coincidence’ by Deepak Chopra. I have skimmed the book, but I haven’t yet read it. Anyway, I opened it up to a random page (pg. 148) and a line jumped out about a god or a goddess in embryo that yearns to be born.
The significance hit me instantly: just a week prior, I had painted a portrait of an embryo—not from a photograph, but from my mind’s eye.
I kept reading and discovered an entire chapter dedicated to synchronicities. In fact, the whole book is essentially about synchronicities. Definitely not a coincidence.”
A Year of Unexpected Blessings
Looking back, that reflection feels even more significant now as I celebrate the arrival of two unexpected blessings in my life: my two newest granddaughters. My eighth grandchild, born on the night of the dark moon, has been lovingly nicknamed “my little moon goddess,” Rhiannon Selene. Just one month later, during a black moon, my ninth grandchild, Myriam, was born.

For months, I had been quietly mourning the idea that I might never have another baby to hold. My seven grandchildren were growing older, and I was beginning to accept that phase of my life might be behind me. All three of my children had told me they were “done” having babies, and though I understood and respected their decisions, it left me feeling a bittersweet ache.
So, imagine my surprise—and joy—when two of them shared their pregnancy news on the very same day! It felt like a sudden burst of light breaking through the melancholy, a reminder that life’s surprises often arrive when we least expect them.
Both of these granddaughters were unanticipated gifts, yet their presence feels deeply aligned with the synchronicities I’ve been noticing and honoring. The dark moon, which has always held profound significance for me, symbolizes mystery, renewal, and potential—a perfect metaphor for the birth of a child whose name and spirit echo these themes.
Divine Threads: Hekate, Selene, and Synchronicity
The arrival of my two new grandbabies feels like the culmination of a journey that began over a year ago with that simple act of picking up a book and painting an image that came from my mind’s eye. It’s as though my ancestors were whispering to me, preparing me for the blessings to come.
As a devotee of Hekate, the goddess of the crossroads, magic, and the moon, I often turn to her for guidance during times of transition and uncertainty. Hekate’s presence is felt most strongly during the dark moon, a time for deep reflection and renewal. It’s no coincidence that Rhiannon Selene was born during this phase of the lunar cycle, embodying the mystery and magic that Hekate represents.
Selene, the ancient Greek goddess of the moon, also comes to mind when I reflect on my granddaughter’s name and birth. She was named after Selene, a deliberate choice that honors the goddess’s serene, luminous presence and connection to the moon. Known for her serene, luminous presence, Selene represents the moon’s quiet power to illuminate our paths, even in the darkness. Together, Hekate and Selene’s energies weave a powerful tapestry of guidance, transformation, and light. The synchronicities surrounding my granddaughters’ births feel like their divine influence, reminding me to trust in the unseen forces at work and to honor the cycles of life and nature.
The Lessons of Synchronicity
This past year has deepened my understanding of synchronicity and its connection to life’s cycles. From the waxing and waning of the moon to the ebbs and flows of our own journeys, everything is intertwined. Synchronicities often emerge when we are most attuned to these cycles, paying attention to the subtle signs and messages surrounding us.
Reflecting on these moments of alignment, I see how they’ve guided me—not just in my spiritual practice, but in my personal life as well. They’ve taught me to trust the universe’s timing and embrace the unexpected with an open heart.
A Personal Note to Rhiannon and Myriam
Rhiannon and Myriam, my sweet granddaughters, you are two of the brightest blessings in my life’s journey. I can’t wait to watch you grow, discover the world, and embrace the magic and beauty that surrounds you. I look forward to all the giggles, the games, the sleepovers, and the countless memories we’ll create together.
Rhiannon, my little moon goddess, you already shine with the mystery and grace of the dark moon. Myriam, you arrived under the rare and special energy of a black moon, a symbol of renewal and infinite potential. Both of you carry such unique and powerful light within you, and I feel so grateful to witness your journeys as they unfold.
As my ninth and newest grandchild, Myriam, you also carry the energy of the number nine—a number of completion, wisdom, and fulfillment. Your arrival feels like the completion of a beautiful cycle, reminding me of how life constantly evolves, renews, and blesses us in the most unexpected ways.
Know that as your grandmother, I will always be here to hold your hand, cheer you on, and remind you of the magic within you. I am so excited to see who you will become and to share in all the adventures that await us.
Counting My Blessings
The arrival of my granddaughters feels like a living testament to the power of synchronicity and the beauty of life’s cycles. They are not just blessings but reminders of the mystery, magic, and interconnectedness of the universe.
As a mother, I am three times blessed. As a grandmother, I am nine times blessed. And one day, as a great-grandmother—and perhaps even a great-great-grandmother—I know these blessings will multiply exponentially.
Hekate’s torches remind me that even in the darkest moments, there is magic, guidance, and the promise of new beginnings. Selene’s gentle, luminous energy reassures me, showing the way forward with grace and clarity.
What synchronicities have shaped your life? I’d love to hear your stories and reflections in the comments below.

For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be a Grandma. I was fortunate to have two wonderful grandmothers while I was growing up and I have many happy memories of each of them. Today, I live in a “Grandmother’s House” where my husband and I enjoy lots of time with our family. In addition to my role as Grandma to nine grandchildren, I am a daughter, a wife, a mother of three grown children, a sister, an aunt, a friend, a writer, an artist … and a witch.
✨Grandma’s Grimoire✨ is a collection of family wisdom interwoven with a touch of magick. Our goal is to create a living and lasting legacy that we hope will inspire our future generations as well as anyone who is drawn to it.
