I’ve Just Started a Year-Long Money Magick Practice… Want to Join Me?

I just began working with Financial Transformation Magick by Damon Brand, the latest release in the Gallery of Magick series—and it’s all about money magick. I’m four days into this money magick journey—and today just so happens to be Tax Day (April 15th). Not gonna lie, I’m feeling pretty broke at the moment after sending a hefty payment to the IRS. But oddly enough, this financial pinch hasn’t discouraged me—it’s actually lighting a fire under me to stay committed to this practice. I am actually very grateful that I had the money to send them because that hasn’t always been the case.

I started the first ritual on Saturday, and something clicked immediately. That night, I had intense, number-filled dreams, like my brain was in overdrive trying to rewire how I think about money. The next day, I received a pre-approval for my dream home—at a price that felt like a serious long shot when I applied last week. I ended up deciding not to make an offer, but it still felt like a sign; in fact, that was the second sign I received about that home.

When I woke up, I was inspired to research some options to reduce next year’s taxes, and I stumbled upon something called the Augusta Rule—a legitimate tax strategy that I actually qualify for. It could make a difference moving forward, so I will be putting that into place immediately!

No big windfalls yet, but there’s movement. There’s mental clarity. There’s this strange but welcome feeling that I’m starting to look at money differently.

Money Magick Journal: Ritual Two

I realized I can’t log this in weeks because each ritual seems to vary in length, and you can take breaks in between. I took a week and a half break, and it turns out that this ritual is 12 days long, so I will track my results by ritual now.

I have been thinking about what it is exactly that I want and the honest answer is that I want to pay off all of my debts and live debt-free … a word that is totally foreign to me as it seems like I am always in debt to the credit card companies, student loans, and the IRS despite the fact that I live a pretty normal life. My house is not necessarily my dream home, but I do like it, so perhaps I should give up the idea of a dream home for now and focus on becoming debt-free and living within my means. This way, I can spend more time writing, painting, gardening, and playing with my grandchildren.

On the other hand, I actually do live within my means, so it’s confusing to me how I got so deep into debt. We only have one car, and we bought it used. I don’t have any fancy clothes or jewelry. We rarely vacation and rarely go out to dinner. Should I go on? And, my husband and I make a very decent living. But, despite all that, it’s hard to get ahead. Why is that? I don’t have the answer, but I know how easily debt can snowball out of control. I also know this—I intend to be debt-free or at least pretty darn close to it by the end of the year-long rituals in this book. That is my goal. I calculate that it will take $146,080 for me to be totally debt-free… well, and that does not count the interest that is accruing, so it’s actually more than that. And that does not count my mortgage, but that’s okay, I can live with that debt. If I can achieve getting rid of the rest, I will be ecstatic. Yes, that is a staggering amount of money. And, it is going to require a lot of hard work and some serious magick to make it happen.

But I think it’s doable.

Note to my grandchildren and anyone else who wants to follow some sage advice from a Grandma who learned the hard way: Live within your means. Do not use credit cards unless you can pay them off every month. And, for God’s sakes, file and pay your taxes on time. You have no idea how hard it can be to dig out of IRS debt once they start adding interest and penalties on top of what you owe. Oh, and unless you plan to become a doctor or some other profession that requires a degree and pays well, don’t take out student loans if you can help it. Here I am, at 56 years old, still paying student loans for a degree I didn’t even finish, and never even needed in the end.

Money Magick Journal: Rituals Three and Four

If I’m being totally honest? These rituals are boring, and I find the chapters lacking in substance. Still, I show up. Why? Because maybe results matter more than the delivery.

Am I richer? Not exactly. Am I more financially empowered? Yes.

I earn more than ever, although that started before I began this practice. But my mindset is sharper. My goals are clearer. And I’m still showing up for this process, which is magick in itself.

Why I Trust Damon Brand’s Money Magick

This isn’t my first time exploring Damon Brand’s work—or experimenting with money magick.

Over the years, I’ve collected quite a few of his books, all part of the Gallery of Magick series. Some of them I’ve used more than others, but my overall experience has been… surprisingly effective.

The Magickal Cashbook was my first experiment in money magick. I’ve used it several times over the past year and a half for various things—$1,000 for a new witchy tattoo, a few thousand to pay off a credit card—and it usually works (it did NOT give me lottery numbers LOL). Even though it feels a little silly while I’m doing it, the results have been enough to keep me coming back, and the current one is to consistently earn $100 in a day on Grandma’s Grimoire (we average about $10-$11 and had a high of $45 on Imbolc. (The little cashbook that the book directs you to create is pictured above on my altar.)

The 72 Angels of Magick has been my go-to when I’ve needed help with creativity, especially with my artwork. The results weren’t dramatic bolts of lightning, but rather clear nudges and moments of flow when I needed them most.

I also own Magickal Riches (which I’ve only skimmed), Magickal Servitors (used once and think I accidentally manifested a pantry moth infestation, but I do plan to revisit this book—I just can’t really think of what type of servitor I want to create), and Magickal Protection (which I keep around like a magical fire extinguisher—just in case).

Clearly, I’ve bought into his work—literally and spiritually. Damon Brand is a founding member of The Gallery of Magick and one of the better-known names in modern occult publishing. His systems are practical, streamlined, and often oddly effective.

Do I love that he rarely explains the deeper background or metaphysical “why” behind each ritual? Not really. I often wish he’d pull back the curtain just a little more. But then again… “occult” literally means “hidden” or “secret.” So maybe that’s part of the point.

All that to say—I’m going into this year of Financial Transformation Magick with a decent level of trust. I’ve seen just enough results to believe it’s worth showing up every day and seeing what unfolds.

Grandma

For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be a Grandma. I was fortunate to have two wonderful grandmothers while I was growing up and I have many happy memories of each of them. Today, I live in a “Grandmother’s House” where my husband and I enjoy lots of time with our family. In addition to my role as Grandma to nine grandchildren, I am a daughter, a wife, a mother of three grown children, a sister, an aunt, a friend, a writer, an artist … and a witch.
